Obama catches McCain in Georgia

The poll on the presidential race in Georgia now mirrors the very tight senatorial race in Georgia.

Insider Advantage has just released its poll of Likely Voters in Georgia. Senator Obama is now within the margin of error of Senator McCain in that state.

McCain 49%
Obama 46%
10/9, 509 LV, 4%

This is incredible news for Senator Obama's campaign. Especially after a poll earlier today showing phenomenal results in West Virginia.

Since there was heavy turnout among African-Americans ( 30% of all early voters) who have already voted, the McCain camp should be very concerned.

Two polls on the senate race confirmed the very competitive race. One more poll on the Obama/McCain Georgia race should confirm this incredible surge by Senator Obama.

Let's Go Obama !

Go Georgia...you can do it!  You know you want to...it would be so awesome to see a black man win a state in the deep South.  It wouldn't quite be as awesome as Obama winning Mississippi.  But it would be amazing symbolism on election night.

Re: Obama catches McCain in Georgia (2.00 / 1)

Not to belabor the point, or to pat myself on the back too much, but I would like to remind everyone that I was among the first to say "Don't Worry!"...

If I had any snark in me, I might ask,

"But Why hasn't Obama sealed the deal in Georgia?"

This is great news, latinomaker, thanks for reporting it.

My prediction (previously stated): 395 EV (none / 0)

for Obama.  That includes all the swing states, including Indiana, Missouri, West Virginia AND Georgia.  I'm not usually prone to optimism, but I have always expected this election to not be close at all, but to swing either way based on a sudden last days tail wind of late deciders.  Right now, I see that tail wind as favoring us in a huge way.

Don't forget 1 for Nebraska (none / 0)

Do you think he can take an EV vote there for 396?

If he takes Georgia, it's just about guaranteed. (none / 0)

I can't see any way to get past 396.  Or 397 with an extra Nebraska EV.  I was just looking at polls on Pollster.  Montana, Arkansas, and Mississipi are about 9 points out of reach at the moment, and seem too far to reach under even apocalyptic conditions, but, hey, let's keep a watch on 'em for laughs.

I pray we're in this position 3.5 weeks from now (none / 0)

But still, I agree, I don't see those states closing in time.

Montana was the biggest shock of all, going from tossup to solid McCain after Palin, of all things, and not switching back.

Obama catches McCain in Georgia? (2.00 / 1)

Did he catch McCain at a crossroads?

Was there a fiddle contest?

The pebbles have voted and the avalanche has begun.

Johnny lobby up DC and play that race card hard

When banks are failing (none / 0)

like this, which no one expected earlier in the year, being the party out of the white house should have a tough time losing, no, this poll is not testament to how great Obama is. He'll likely win, but I still think Georgia is a stretch.
